ベルリンの壁が崩壊した頃にはテクノとDJカルチャーの美学に魅了され、初めて自分のパーティーをは同郷の幼馴染であるMarcell Dettmannと共にオーガナイズしたという。優れたテクニックと直感力で瞬時にオーディエンスの状況を把握し、他には真似できない引き出しの多い音楽知識の中から繰り広げられるプレイは、インダストリアルなハードサウンドからブロークンビーツ、ディープなダブ、メロディックなファンキーグルーヴまで多岐にわたり、フロアの空気やエナジーを瞬時に変える特出したスキルを持つ。
Berghainの最初期からレジデントとして起用され、ベルリンで発展してきた現代テクノシーンを代表するアーティストとして活躍し、プロデューサーとしてもOstgut Tonや自身のIMFレーベルなどからリリースする作品は著名DJをはじめ、日本のレコードショップでも強力にプッシュされてきた。

Representing Berlin, alongside the greats like Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock, Techno DJ and producer Marcel Fengler is set to appear once again at Omotesando VENT.
Hailing from the holy land of modern Techno, Berlin, Marcel Fengler makes his way back, after a year's wait, to VENT, and we are very excited! This living legend who has been praised as "one of the finest techno DJs" by the hugely influential Resident Advisor, is set to hit the decks on July 15th.
Around when the Berlin Wall fell, Marcel became mesmerized by the aesthetics of Techno and DJ culture. The very first party he organized was with his childhood friend from the same town, Marcel Dettmann. He's an expert at reading the audience, understanding what they want to hear almost instantly, and his well-honed technique and intuition combined with his second-to-none knowledge of music allows him to conjure up a sonic odyssey with diverse a range of styles that are hard and industrial, sometimes broken beat, deep and dubby, melodic and funky. He is a master at skillfully shifting the mood of the dance floor at the flick of a fader.
He was one Berghain's first resident DJs, helping to develop Berlin's cutting-edge Techno scene, and has even produced for the Ostgut Ton label and his own IMF label, where he's also released works by many a talented young artists. It goes without saying that his releases fly off the shelves soon after hitting the record stores, here in Japan.
According to Marcel, he has an infinite amount of passion for Techno, and even considers it a large part of his identity. Come bear witness to this extremely talented artist whose strong vision for the music drives him to continuously evolve his unique style and technique!
